Day I
June 2, 2016
Pre-Event |
The pre-event was basically to enrich the information about upcoming days of IYFCCSD 2016. All participants are encouraged to be active during the program and build extensive networking each other. I experienced a very familiar nuance, REUNION! Yes. I called this as "Inspiration Circle". Everytime I attend a program, there must be few people that are related already with my former forum partners. The cirlce seems getting smaller and smaller. I know Ramadhan from APUFY 2015 , who is also best friend of Yana, participants of IYFCCSD 2016, I also met Yusuf ( from BEYOND ASEAN Bandung ) after June 2015, Zulfa from Youth For Climate Camp 2014, and more names are coming. Again, the circle are seems getting smaller.

Nesha Ichida shared her experience in Arctic and what's her activity in Divers Clean Action. In a year, ice in Arctic has melted about 5-6m tall due to global rising temperature ( see the picture below ). This condition is getting worse by fact that emission residues worldwide has also accumulated in Arctic and form a thickened layer like a ground ( shown by dark colour ice-like in picture 2 below). Witnessed this tragic condition, Nesha ( and I also agree) that climate change is getting even more terrible. As part of Divers Clean Action, Nesha and her team are trying to provide a platform to do clean up not only on land but also in ocean. As we have witnessed, debris will end in ocean and has harmed the living. Plastic waste has been mistaken by sea turtle as jelly fish, and end up as numbers of death cause. Lately a giant sperm-whale also died because of plastic waste. So tragic. From her previous experience on National Awareness Day, around 20 divers did a clean up and collected 75 kg of ocean debris in 1 hour. ( Picture from : Nesha Ichida) |
